State agency and statewide family organization seek feedback on understaffing in nursing homes

On Tuesday, June 20 at 6 p.m. the New Jersey Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman (NJLTCO) and the statewide family support group FACE NJ will host an online discussion about the impact of inadequate staffing in nursing homes.
It is free and open to anyone interested in or impacted by this problem.
The main portion of the conversation will focus on residents and loved ones discussing their experiences and asking questions. The program will start with brief explanations of the current law and regulations, impacts of staffing shortages on residents, and ways to advocate for changes from leaders of LTCO, FACE-NJ, and NJ Department of Health.
"New Jersey long-term care facilities, like facilities around the country, continue to face a lack of adequate staffing. We want to hear from residents and loved ones and care partners about how this affects their lives and care," said Laurie Facciarossa Brewer, New Jersey's Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
"If we have any hope of solving this challenge, we must begin with listening to those most impacted," said Laurie Kruithof, President of FACE NJ.
The NJ Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman is an independent State agency that advocates for adult residents of long-term care facilities (e.g. nursing homes, assisted living residents and residential health care facilities). FACE NJ is a Facebook-based grassroots organization of families and other care partners who advocate for reforms to the State's long-term care system.
